OxyAccounting vs Sage

OxyAccounting vs
Sage Business Cloud.

Sage Business Cloud is a capable accounting platform, but in South Africa its plans are tiered, and the features SMEs actually rely on tend to sit on the higher ones. OxyAccounting puts everything in a single R149/month plan. Here's an honest, side-by-side comparison.

Sage Business Cloud Accounting Start (the entry plan, aimed at sole traders) is R240/month including VAT per the official Sage SA shop, and the Standard plan is R435/month. Inventory, purchasing and multi-user access generally require a higher tier, so the real cost of a full feature set is well above the headline price.

OxyAccounting is a single plan at R149/month with every feature included: a real double-entry general ledger, VAT201 built against the SARS form, bank reconciliation for all five major South African banks, inventory, purchasing with 3-way match, a fixed asset register and the Roxy AI assistant. Three user accounts are included as standard.

Where Sage wins today: live bank feeds (open banking) and a published API. OxyAccounting uses CSV import and doesn't yet offer an API. We list both openly in the table below. Everything here is to the best of our knowledge; verify current Sage pricing and features on sage.com before deciding.
